Case Study - PROFIT
In summer 2016, GTP successfully bid for €355,000 of EU funding for the Professional Framework for Innovation in Tourism project (PROFIT) - part of the Interreg 2 Seas programme.
PROFIT aims to improve the profitability of tourism entrepreneurs in coastal regions, and comprises eight key partners across UK (Visit Kent and Visit Essex), Belgium, France and The Netherlands, as well as several observer partners. It is worth a total of €590,000 over three years.
The project will examine the DNA of coastal destinations and their SMEs. It will include new digital data analysis platforms and partner toolkits, detailed coastal customer and business research. It will also include a new training and coaching programme for coastal SMEs, and a shareable action plan for other regional authorities to help coastal regions highlight their superior tourism offer in an increasingly competitive UK market.
