Case Study - Kent Crisps Romney Marsh Competition

In Spring 2021, the Visit Kent team worked in partnership with Kent Crisps to help promote their brand new flavour - Romney Marsh Lamb & Rosemary in honour of their tenth anniversary.

In Spring 2021, the Visit Kent team worked in partnership with Kent Crisps to develop and launch a new competition to mark the company's tenth anniversary and to help promote their brand new crisp flavour - Romney Marsh Lamb & Rosemary.

The competition offered entrants the chance to win a foodie break in Romney Marsh in Kent (known for its natural beauty, diverse habitats, rich history and extensive coastline) and a prize bundle which included a box of Lamb and Rosemary Kent Crisps and other tourism products donated by local businesses.  These were a two night stay in a Bloom Stays cottage, a tour of Gusbourne winery (and a free bottle of their 2016 Blanc de Blancs) and a case of Docker Brewery Beer which helped to emphasise the distinct links that Kent Crisps has with the local area and its brand positioning as a local producer.

The competition launched on Easter Weekend and ran for three weeks.  It was supported by paid and organic digital activity and was hosted on the Visit Kent website with a simple form on the competition landing page. 

The Results

The competition was hugely successful receiving nearly 9,000 entries and proving to be an excellent source of engagement and opt in data.  Just when lockdown restrictions were beginning to ease, it was an invaluable way for Visit Kent to help drive awareness of the county as a destination for short breaks at a time when the appetite and interest in weekends away and days out was particularly strong.
