In 2015, following an open competitive tender process, Hertfordshire County Council and Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership awarded Go To Places an initial two-year contract to develop a destination management service to strengthen the county’s inbound tourism and highlight Hertfordshire’s attractions.

Visit Herts officially launched in September 2015 and the team brought together tourism attractions, local businesses and public sector partners to collectively identify Hertfordshire’s unique position and identity, and to heighten its offer to the world.

The tourism service launched in full in 2016, with a brand new website, social media channels, and the first ever Herts Big Weekend. The service is now responsible for driving visitors to the county through marketing campaigns, increased digital presence and partner liaison which has resulted (pre-pandemic) in a visitor economy worth £2.4 billion, supporting over 43,000 jobs and welcoming 29 million visitors a year.
