Go To Places was engaged by Visit Chichester in 2018 to develop a Destination Management Plan (DMP) for the cathedral city.

The brief was to develop a five year plan positioning Chichester as a first-class year round destination showcasing its natural beauty, the quality of its heritage and cultural experiences and increase the District’s share of overnight stays and day visitor expenditure.

This 5-year plan was developed alongside the current ‘vision’ documents for Chichester city, Midhurst, Petworth and Selsey and took into consideration the strategic objectives for the South Downs National Park. The document also drew on extensive analysis of existing research, to build an evidence base to understand current performance; visitor and business insights; identification of local issues; external trends and competitors.

Throughout development of the plan, consultation took place with both the public and private sector, via 1-2-1 interviews and regional workshops bringing together representatives from Chichester District Council, West Sussex County Council, Chichester BID, attractions, event organisers, the accommodation & hospitality sector, district vision groups and the national travel trade.
