Our team has a wealth of experience in public, private and voluntary sector marketing and we are on hand to help shape both individual campaigns as well as wider tourism strategies. We can consult on a wide variety of marketing projects, big and small, and offer in-depth advice and analysis suited to your specific requirements.
Go To Places was approached by Bluewater to deliver a strategy to make it the shopping and leisure destination of choice for domestic and international visitors to South East England. Long-term objectives included creating a new coach and travel trade offer to boost visitor numbers.
We partnered with the team at Bluewater to develop its travel trade and groups offer, including a dedicated group and travel trade guide, new signposted coach drop off point, a dedicated trade section on the Bluewater website, a new group booking form, and two new welcome packs for tour operators and drivers.
Visit Kent now manages the proactive promotion of Bluewater to the travel trade, securing new and returning business from UK coach operators by establishing a tourism offer that stands out from competitors. Bluewater has seen increased business from the coach market, and is now working around a proactive approach to marketing their coach offer at key times in the season.
A destination is far more than a name or a logo, which is why Go To Places offers a full strategy service to any location looking to reinvent its public branding. Working with leading creative agencies and facilitators, we bring all partners and key stakeholders together to identify each destination’s underlying stories, its vision, key characteristics and overall position before exploring visual options and final slogans.
On securing the contract to deliver the Destination Management Service for Hertfordshire, Go To Places launched an in-depth brand strategy exercise with more than 50 representatives from a wide range of attractions, local authorities and tourism businesses. This included a one-day workshop where all parties exchanged ideas on the overall vision for Hertfordshire, building a huge number of ideas into a handful of approved concepts. We then worked this into a full brand toolkit.
More recently, we have been selected to work with the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation to develop the brand narrative and positioning for Ebbsfleet Garden City, focusing on its unique identity and core personality. Work continues on this project.
PR and media liaison can be one of the most exciting – and daunting – elements of a marketing campaign, fraught with possibilities and pitfalls. Go To Places’ dedicated PR team can offer bespoke, expert media advice to ensure you get the most out of your communications channels. We can provide PR and marketing workshops for SMEs, offering expert advice (to beginners or advanced staff) on improving their media profile, with copywriting clinics, and interview and press protocol training.
The team can also advise on small or medium-scale digital PR opportunities and associated marketing campaigns, capitalising on national or seasonal trends. In 2016, the team worked with the Kent Film Office to promote a new online Tudor-themed movie trail for Kent tourists, showcasing the county’s numerous film locations. Capitalising on the release of the hit television series’ Wolf Hall and The Hollow Crown, Visit Kent devised a low cost social media campaign featuring an online competition with supporting PR activity linked to the movie trail. The competition received more than 11,000 entries, and substantial links to the online movie trail page.
